Join resident wildlife expert Mike as he takes you through the plants, trees and animal life of Fountains Abbey. He’ll even throw in a few cheerful anecdotes along the way. Staying Alive at Ripon Bowling Club

Boogie on down while raising money for a great cause with this groovy disco event. Staying Alive, held at Ripon Bowling Club, will play a variety of dancefloor classics as you party the night away in your best disco costumes. There’s also a light buffet and you can strut your stuff knowing you’re raising money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Not feeling the high heels? Opt for a medical outfit instead.

Fountains by Floodlight at Fountains Abbey

This year is particularly special for Fountains Abbey, as the team celebrates 90 years of this famous after-dark event. Wander around the abbey at nightfall with a stunning light show, bringing the structure to life. There’s even a live choral performance from 7 to 8pm, and you can join in for food at the Mill Yard.

Deer park walk at Studley Royal

‘Tis the season to watch wandering deer in all their finery, so make the most of this North Yorkshire event this October. The wildlife team at Studley Royal Water Garden will guide you around the deer park, filling you in on facts about these majestic animals, as well as other wildlife.

Halloween Trail at Swinton

Brave the Halloween Trail at Swinton this October! Make your way through the woodlands and follow clues on your trail sheet to detect spooky phantoms. Children and dogs are positively encouraged, as is fancy dress. This event takes place throughout the last week of October at the Swinton Estate.

Halloween ghost hunt at Ripon Workhouse

Did you know that Ripon Workhouse is haunted? On this special evening event, you’ll get to see the spectres in action as you embark on a ghost hunt. Wander the halls, take part in experiments and try not to scream as you prepare to confront these demonic figures.

Foraging for fungus at Thorp Perrow

There’s just something more satisfying about eating food you’ve foraged yourself. With this November event at Thorp Perrow, you’ll join microbiology expert Dr Keith Thomas as you roam around the gardens. Take in the sights of the arboretum as you identify different species of fungi. They’ll even treat you to lunch afterwards.

Bonfire Night at The Staveley Arms

The Staveley Arms and North Stainley Estate are so excited to invite the village to our second Bonfire and Fireworks Event on Sunday 6th November!

Join us from 6pm on Sunday 6th November.

Tickets £5 to include a cup of soup. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
